Donor Heads and Bodies for Vehicle Team Voltron Pilot Action Figures

As I mentioned elsewhere, in 1986 Panosh Place almost released, but ultimately never released, action figures of three of the fifteen pilots of Vehicle Team Voltron: Air Team leader and Voltron Force captain Jeff, Sea Team leader Krik and Land Team leader Cliff.

As a kid I had no idea that Vehicle Team Voltron was significantly less popular with kids than Lion Force Voltron. All I knew was that, while I preferred Lion Force Voltron, I didn’t understand why LJN made more Voltron toys for Lion Force Voltron than it did for Vehicle Team Voltron, and why Panosh Place only made Voltron toys that were related to Lion Force Voltron.

As a certifiable geek, occasionally I’ve considered cobbling together my own vintage-style 3-3/4″ action figures to represent the pilots of Vehicle Team Voltron. In so doing I’ve wondered which 3-3/4″ action figures would be suitable sacrifices in order to become the heads and bodies of custom Vehicle Team Voltron pilot figures. Below are ideas that I’ve had to this point. I will probably update this blog entry as other ideas come to mind. If anyone reading this blog entry has suggestions, then feel free to share them!

Panosh Place Voltron Hunk (1985) — except for the hair and sweatband — but with the exception of using Pidge for Chip, I don’t want to use the head of a Lion Force Voltron pilot figure as the head of a Vehicle Team Voltron figure.
Hasbro Street Fighter 2 Edmond Honda (1993) — although his head might be oversized.
Hasbro G.I. Joe Long Arm — although his head might be undersized.
